Meet the Founders of SWAGG Academy
Sheri J. Booker
Program Director
Sheri J. Booker is an award-winning author who has provided quality instruction and programming for students in Maryland and the District of Columbia. As a part of the Penn/Faulkner Foundations Writers in Schools Program, she has worked with hundreds of middle and high school students on literacy projects. She has also worked with students in India and helped to create a school of Media Arts in South Africa. She has written 4 books, one of which she was awarded an NAACP Image Award. She has a passion for working with youth and teaching them how to express themselves through a variety of writing formats.
Dr. Chanta' Booker
Executive Director
Dr. Chanta' Booker is born and raised in Baltimore City. She has over 20 years of experience serving students and families in Baltimore City and County as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. She has served as a principal of grades Pre-K-12th and has a thorough understanding of the overall academic and social-emotional developmental needs of youth and young adults. While her background is in education, Dr. Booker has obtained a certification in Non-Profit Management. Her goal is to provide youth with exposure to new opportunities that will allow them to dream and set high expectations for themselves.
